The World is Ending and Maybe That’s Kinda Hot: an aggressively modern, glitter and lollypops adaptation of Boccaccio's The Decameron.  Insufferable/irresistible 20-something young nobles escaping the Black Death in the Italian countryside tell each other stories to help forget about the Death Everywhere bit. Weingarten's satirical, R-rated ensemble comedy comedy asks, "Can it be kinda hot as the world ends?" while also reflecting on the true power of storytelling in times of turmoil.

“This play captures the chaos of being young and sexy and flawless and gross and understands that all those things added together equal armagaddon. More classical adaptations like this, that tear the original apart and have sex with the pieces.” --playwright Matt Minnicino

(Release your grip on your pearls--you can thank Boccaccio for the salacious bits. The Vatican already put it on their Index of Banned Books in 1559.)

Plot

In this kinda adaptation of “The Decameron” by Boccaccio, 7 hot young people gather in a generic meadow in Italy to hang and tell stories and hit on each other. Each young person tells one story and as the stories are told, secrets and truths about who they are and who they really love come to light. They are like all kinda freaked/not in the bestt space though cause they just escaped the Black Plague, like no big deal cause they’re safe now…or are they??
